Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard Independence Retreat

If you want to combine a fabulous beach vacation with celebrating the Fourth of July, you may want to check out Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.

To experience the full scope of this vacation experience, you may want to check out the Anchor Inn located in Hyannis. Situated right on the waterfront, the Anchor Inn provides easy access to Bayview Beach. In addition, you can take ferries to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

What separates Cape Code and Martha’s Vineyard from the rest of the nation’s cities, however, is that the Fourth of July is celebrated with a multitude of parades, festivals, picnics, fairs, and firework displays.

For example, the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard is host to one of the most popular barbecues on the island. It is New England cooking at its best. In Falmouth, Cape Code you can enjoy the colorful Bike and Carriage Parade where you can view the participants dressed as Uncle Sam.

If you decide to stay in another part of Cape Code, you will not lose out because there are parades in every part of the island. These include the Chatham Fourth of July Parade on Main Street, the Orleans Parade on Eldredge Parkway to Main Street, the Hyannis Parade on Old Colony Road, the Sandwich Parade on Main Street, and many more.

On Martha’s Vineyard, you have the opportunity to enjoy a special treat. Starting at 4 PM, there is the annual cookout on the lawn of Dr. Fisher’s House located at Main Street in Edgartown. This includes burgers, franks, and an assorted mix of holiday fare. At 5 PM, the Fourth of July Parade begins with marching bands, floats, and more. At 7:30 PM, you can visit the Old Whaling Church and enjoy the Vineyard Haven Band perform. The evening is capped off with a fireworks display at Edgartown Harbor.

There are additional firework displays through Cape Cod as well – and not just on the 4th. There are firework displays at Falmouth Heights Beach, Provincetown Harbor, Nantucket’s Jetties Beach, and Wareham’s Onset Pier. On the 5th, you can find firework displays at Hyannis’ Rock Harbor Fireworks, Orleans’ Rock Harbor, and Bourne Fireworks on Main Street.

Whether you stay in Cape Code or Martha’s Vineyard, you will always be close to the spectacular celebrations that await you.
