* You’ll start off on day one with a tour of the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, where you’ll have an opportunity to see the local wildlife.

* On the second day, you’ll take a thrilling boat ride down narrow parts of the rivers, rapids and shallow waters in the Rakaia Gorge. You’ll follow this with a hike through the Podocarp forest, where you’ll see the national symbol of New Zealand, the silver fern.

* The third day consists of a hike along the ridge above the Mueller Glacier, from which you can take in breathtaking views of the glacier.

* On day four, you’ll sample the local produce at orchards and vineyards and stop to try the best ice cream in the country. Then Queenstown, with a family rafting trip in Skipper’s Canyon along the way – here you can see some of the locations used in thee Lord of the Rings.

* You’ll spend day five in and around Queenstown. There are activities such as hang gliding, skydiving, luging and fishing available – you can also opt to journey to the unique Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park.

* The sixth day also allows you the freedom to explore Queenstown and the vicinity – don’t miss nearby Arrowtown, the site of an old Chinese gold mine, where you can even pan for gold yourself! Or you can take in natural beauty at Skipper’s Canyon or the Queenstown Botanical Gardens.

* Day seven is one your children will love. You’ll spend the day at Glendhu Satation at a sheep farm. This 7,500 acre sheep and cattle farm dating from the 19th century offers a slice of rural New Zealand life.

* On your eighth day in New Zealand, you’ll take a trip to Puzzling World explore one of the world’s largest mazes, comprised of more than a mile of pathways. Children and adults alike will enjoy finding their way out of the maze.

* Day nine includes a drive down to the West Coast via the Haast Pass and a spectacular view of the Southern Alps including Mt. Cook from Lake Matheson.

* On day ten, you’ll enjoy a kayaking trip on Lake Mapourika, followed by an afternoon hike up the terminal face of the Franz Josef Glacier; from here there are some truly amazing panoramic views.

* On day eleven, you’ll journey up the coast to visit the Bushmans Center and then on to Hokitika, where you can enjoy the local pounamu carving workshops and art galleries.

* On the last day of your New Zealand adventure, you’ll hike to Flock Hill, where there are unparalled views of the Torlesse and Craigieburn ranges and Castle Hill Basin’s limestone landscape, where much of the film Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was filmed. Then a visit to a working sheep farm where you’ll see huntaway dogs on the job herding sheep and see an actual sheep shearing!
