Travel to Paradise: St. John in the Virgin Islands

Some travelers believe that St. Thomas is a shopper’ paradise, while others know that St. John is simply – paradise.

There are two hotels that are well known on St. John: Caneel Bay and Weston St. John. Depending upon your budget, most visitors to St. John extol the virtues of the Weston because it is more family-oriented.

Getting to St. John requires a flight to St. Thomas and then hopping over to St. John utilizing the Westin ferryboat. In fact, if you select Westin, your luggage is handled by the resort and will await you upon arrival.

With its pristine beaches and a variety of activities, the Westin offers many amenities for the entire family. Its landscape is superb and your kids will have the opportunity to take advantage of the resort’s many fun-filled activities, including the Kids’ Club for children three to twelve years of age.

For adults, the Westin has a fitness center and a spa. The entire family can choose between the four restaurants located onsite. More importantly, however, is how visitors to the Westin rave about the number of activities available for the entire family.

Such activities include paddleboat races, feeding iguanas, arts and crafts, sailing lessons, hunting for seashells, as well as programs offered for half a day or an entire day.

Minutes from the Westin St. John is Cruz Bay. Here you can shop and have lunch while enjoying the atmosphere, people, and beauty that is this island.

Your trip would not be complete without visiting the Virgin Islands National Park. You can book a land tour through your hotel’s concierge or explore the park on your own. Most visitors recommend that you sign up for a tour at the Visitor’s Center where you can go hiking with a park ranger or take a boat ride that includes lunch.

If you have time, you can take a short boat ride to St. Thomas and explore this island as well. Noted for its shopping, St. Thomas is also a great island to visit for a few hours. With its local color and history, a few hours spent here is well worth it.

Check our St. John packages either with your travel agent or online. Remember to book at least two to three weeks in advance to obtain the lowest air fare.
