Becki M asked:

My daughter is graduating from Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC the end of August. I have a very limited income and need to find cheap travel! Does anyone have any suggestions? I am coming from Ohio so It’s about 1400 miles round trip.

If you need to fly check out Airtran. Also it might be cheaper to fly into Atlanta and then take a bus.

I would recommend travelocity or priceline. That’s who I always go through.

kayak.com has the cheapest flights…. make sure you book as soon as possible, and always book in the middle of the week… prices always jump up on the weekends.

IN ADDITION: DO NOT take a grey hound bus, it will take you FOREVER to get there. Priceline or cheaptickets is not the way to go.

Try flying down there and staying just for the graduation then fly home the next day. Should run you around $600 to $800 to do this and beats driving.

My brothers friend just graduated from fort jackson 3 weeks ago. Try greyhound bus.

It takes a lot longer but have you looked into a Greyhound Bus? Also , look at Expedia or Travelocity to see what the air rates are. Also remember. What airport you fly into and out of makes a difference in price? Could you rent a car and drive it?

If you want to fly, start looking for tickets now. Prices for airfare usually increase the closer you get to your travel date.

Also, look for alternate airports to travel to.
