Five Places to Go for a Haunted Hayride Fun

With Halloween just a month away, you may be thinking about participating in something very different this year to mark the event.  How would you like to go on a Haunted Hayride with your family?  If so, here are the five top places we have selected.

1.  Salem, New Hampshire.  Every weekend, there are haunted hay rides at Spooky World.  If the name isn’t enough to conjure up images of ghosts and goblins, the actual hayride might be!  For $22 per person, the hayride begins at 10PM at Canobie Lake Park and is scheduled to last approximately one hour.  During the hayride, you visit a host of scary places including “The Crypt!”  Oooooh!  Rumor has it that Spooky World is very ah…… well, spooky!  However, they do feature a parade for children with characters dressed up in Halloween garb.  It has been touted as very kid-friendly.

2.  West Greenwich, Rhode Island.  This haunted hayride costs $15 per person and is available throughout the weekend from 6PM to 10PM.  Here, you are taken to the “Fields of Screams,” where your family will explore the Psycho House, Area 51, and a Ghost Town.  This haunted hayride is not recommended for very young children, however.

3.  Ellington, Connecticut.  At J.T. Farms Haunted Hayrides, you can enjoy a 45-minute hayride on Friday and Saturday nights for $15.00 per person.  The sites visited include farms and barns where you are told very scary stories.  Again, this haunted hayride is not ideal for young children but has been given raves by the older set.

4.  Buck’s County, Pennsylvania.  The Valley of Fear (the original haunted hayride) is another scary place to visit.  The hayride costs $28 per person, and is available Thursday through Sunday from 7PM to 10PM.  As above, this haunted hayride is not suitable for young children, but teens will love it!

5.  Smock, Pennsylvania.  Allen’s Haunted Hayrides is open the entire month of October and the hayrides operate between 7:30PM and 10:30PM.  It costs $10 per person.  The sites include a trip through the woods, corn fields, and a haunted barn.  This is a 30-minute ride and is perfect for the entire family.  Children under four are free.
