What is it like to work on a cruise ship?

Is there anyone on Yahoo! Answers today who has worked on a cruise ship? I’m curious as to what it is like. I used to think it souded really fun but I read somewhere that if you work on a cruise ship you can’t go on deck when you aren’t working. What’s the fun in that? I’d date to be couped up in a cabin all day long.
